Creagh has been involved in the mining industry for over 25 years.

After a career as a senior executive within the Normandy Mining Group (one of the world’s then leading Gold companies), in 2003 Creagh co-founded the boutique Metals & Mining advisory firm, Gryphon Partners (Gryphon). Gryphon, until its acquisition by Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in 2011, provided corporate advisory services in M&A and Project Finance with a focus on the Metals & Mining industry through its offices in Australia and Canada. During this 8 year period, Gryphon was involved in more than 60 completed M&A and capital market transactions worth over US$22 billion for numerous clients including Oxiana and Newmont Mining.

Post the sale to SCB, Creagh was a Global Head and Managing Director of SCB’s Metals & Mining advisory group. In 2016 he co-founded GP Securities, a private investment group with a series of investments including an investment in EMR Capital.

Creagh holds dual degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Adelaide (LL.B/BEc) and completed his Chartered Accountants qualifications while employed with Price Waterhouse in the mid 80’s.

Stephen McIntosh is a senior resources executive with over 33 years’ experience with Rio Tinto in a variety of leadership, technical and business development roles. As Group Executive for Growth & Innovation he had direct accountability for staff and contractors covering most of Rio Tinto’s global technical functions including exploration, studies, construction, technical services, IT and asset closure. Prior to this he was Rio Tinto’s global Head of Exploration.

Stephen has contributed to the discovery, evaluation or management of Simberi (gold), Lihir (gold), Las Cruces (copper), Murowa (diamonds), Jadar (lithium-borate) and Winu (copper-gold). He has extensive experience across the A-Z of commodities including gold, copper, diamonds, uranium, iron ore and industrial minerals and has worked on projects in more than 45 countries.

Stephen is a Director of the Australian Renewal Energy Agency (“ARENA”) an Australian Federal government grants agency.

Stephen graduated from Auckland University with a Master of Science (Geology & Physics) and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy, Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ian Smith is a mining engineer with more than 40 years’ experience in the mining and services sector. He has held some of the most senior positions in the Australian resources industry. Prior to being MD and CEO of Orica, he was MD and CEO of Newcrest, growing the business to what has become Australia’s biggest, and globally one of the largest, gold mining companies. In prior roles Ian was Global Head of Operational and Technical Excellence with Rio Tinto, London and Managing Director – Comalco Aluminium Smelting with Rio Tinto in Brisbane. He has technical, operational, financial and strategic expertise, having also held senior and executive positions with WMC Resources, Pasminco and CRA.

Professor Tan is an economist with over 30 years experience in the economics and funds management industries and is one of the world’s leading experts on China and Asia.

Professor Tan was the former World Bank Senior Economist for China, based in Beijing, and the former Chief Economist for the Singapore Government. As a member of the World Bank, he worked with the Chinese government, the People’s Bank of China, the Chinese Ministry of Finance, the National Development Reform Commission (NDRC) and the State Council in developing China’s 11th 5 Year Plan (2006-2010) and economic policies.

Professor Tan co-founded APS Asset Management, a boutique funds management firm based in Singapore, that specialises in Asian investments and which has won numerous funds management awards.

He is a Board Director of APS and Capitamall, one of the world’s largest property investors in China.

He lectures on China at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and has taught over 6,000 Chinese government and business leaders and entrepreneurs over the last 20 years.

Professor Tan’s role is to develop the macroeconomic strategy and investment thematics for the EMR Capital Resources Fund and to update Fund investors on the impact of developments in the Asian economies, especially China, on commodity markets and prices.

Professor Tan is a graduate of Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and received his doctorate from Stanford University. He has received numerous teaching and research awards and scholarships and has published many leading texts and papers on the topic of China and Asian economics.
